I'm a Sydney journalist and copywriter who has spent nearly twenty years asking one more question — mostly about what to eat, where to go, and why it matters.
I started in news and current affairs, where I learned to file fast, check twice and never bury the lead. Since 2012 there's been a steady hum of restaurant reviewing underneath it all, and these days I write almost exclusively about food and travel — features, reviews and columns for Qantas Travel Insider, Escape, Gourmet Traveller, The Australian, The Guardian, Broadsheet and most of the mastheads in between.
The commercial side of my desk makes words for brands: Dan Murphy's, Officeworks, Afterpay, Destination NSW, Destination Canada, Tourism New Zealand and more. Copy that sounds like a person wrote it — because one did.
When I'm not writing I'm usually eating for professional reasons, judging the country's restaurants or speaking at events about food, travel and the freelance life. The rest of the time you'll find me planning the next trip and holding strong opinions about hotel breakfasts.
